Awards
The Academy and its partners encourage interest in science through numerous awards for contributions to science. While research is necessary for scientific progress, research is not done in a vacuum. All funding ultimately comes from taxes, donations, tuition, sales, patent licenses, etc., which all depend on a supportive society. To encourage public support of science, awards are given for achievements in education and communication and for student research. Award money is divided among authors unless otherwise noted.
